Cass County Local DHHS Office SNAP Office is located at 1050 N St Lincoln, NE – 68508. The Supplementary Nutrition Assistance Program helps people on low incomes to buy food. In order to be eligible for such assistance, you do not need to receive other public assistance, but people do not automatically receive SNAP benefits they must apply for and be recognized as eligible. Families who comply with the program’s income and resource guidelines receive SNAP benefits for free. A house can be a person or a group of people who buy and prepare meals together. If groups live in the same house, but buy food separately, the groups can be classified as separate households. Alcoholic drinks, pet food, tobacco, paper products or other non food items cannot be purchased with SNAP advantages. The amount of the benefit is placed on an electronic account which can be accessed by means of an Electronic Benefit Transfer Card.
Some “Meals on Wheels” services may be accepted, and recipients over 60 years of age and their spouses may use them to pay for meals in the congregation.
To apply, an application must be completed and given to the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services.
